#BodyImage

Our collaborative project is entitled #BodyImage. In an attempt to bring to light the unfair societal standards of our time, we decided to choose three random silhouettes and ask unwitting participants to give us an adjective or phrase describing them. These participants were unwitting because they were not told what the adjectives would be used for, however they were knowingly describing a body shape.

The adjectives that we collected from our collaborators were then put into the silhouettes in an attempt to show the ways that people feel labeled by the typical adjectives that people use to describe the body types in which they identify with. Although these words don't define us, and all humans are unique and beautiful in their own ways, this exercise brought to light our preconceived notions of what a person should look like. For farther collaboration these images would be uploaded to Twitter with the hashtag #BodyImage to reach out to others who may want to add adjectives to the images, or just comment their thoughts or feelings with one another.
